Monsanto Hawaii is Proud to Support the Annual Maui Ag Festival

More than 8,000 people flocked to the Maui Tropical Plantation on Saturday, April 5, for the 2014 Maui County Agricultural Festival. Voted the Number 2 “Best Annual Agricultural Festival or Fair” by the readers of Hawaii Magazine, this annual event brings together farmers, ranchers, chefs, food producers, ag-oriented businesses, educational organizations, community organizations and thousands of local residents for a fresh, tasty, educational and fun celebration of Maui agriculture and the vital role it plays in the island’s economy, environment and lifestyle.

Highlights of the event include a large “Grown on Maui” farmers market, food booths, educational displays about Maui agriculture, keiki activities, recipe contest, a live “Victory Farm” featuring some of the crops grown on Maui, local entertainment and Grand Taste Education, where farmers and chefs come together for informative “talk story” sessions about the food grown and raised on Maui.

Monsanto Hawaii is proud to have played a supportive role for the Maui ag fest since its inception in 2008, contributing hundreds of volunteer hours, in-kind assistance and sponsorship support for this fun and educational event organized each year by the Maui County Farm Bureau.

“The Maui County Ag Festival is such a wonderful event,” said Carol Reimann, Monsanto Hawaii’s community and government affairs manager and one of many volunteers for the event. “It’s educational, it’s fun and it’s all about bringing the community together – the ag community and the greater Maui community – to enhance awareness of how broad and multi-faceted Maui’s ag industry is, and how ag is connected to our economy and our daily lives.”

The Maui County Agricultural Festival takes place on the first Saturday of every April, so mark your calendars now for next year’s event on Saturday, April 4, 2015.
