Monsanto named one of America’s 100 best adoption-friendly workplaces by Dave Thomas foundation for adoption

Today, Monsanto announced that the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has recognized it for its employee adoption benefits. Monsanto was ranked No. 18 in the top 100 on the organization’s 2015 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List.

“Monsanto believes in providing employees with benefits that enable the right balance of work and family life – including support for our employees in the process of adopting,” said Jayme Collins, Monsanto Global Total Rewards Lead. “We’re honored to be recognized as an adoption-friendly workplace by the Dave Thomas Foundation.”

Monsanto provides a benefit of up to $7,500 (per child) and 20 days off with pay to employees who are legally adopting a child. In addition, Monsanto supports a variety of employee-organized and led resource groups, including the Monsanto Family Network, which helps employees balance their work contributions with family responsibilities at home through programs, groups and connections to those with similar circumstances.

The announcement of the 2015 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list comes the month preceding National Adoption Month, a collective campaign to raise awareness of the children in foster care waiting to be adopted.

Since 2007, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has compiled an annual list of the 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces to honor employers who offer the best adoption benefits in the U.S. The rankings, compiled from an annual survey of U.S. employers, are determined by an analysis of each company’s adoption benefits, including the maximum financial reimbursement and the amount of paid leave provided for employees who adopt.

“Employers who offer adoption benefits understand that the initial needs of adoptive families are no different than families formed biologically – it helps ensure all families are treated equally by companies,” said Rita Soronen, President and CEO of the Foundation. “We are elated to see even more companies in the last year implement adoption-friendly and foster care-friendly benefits.”

Third party organizations continue to recognize Monsanto as an employer of choice. For more information on these recognitions and others, see Monsanto’s list of workplace recognitions.
