“Views from the Farm” Video Series: Part 1
Here at Monsanto Hawaii, we’re part of a global community that shares a common vision: improving agriculture, improving lives. We work daily to help farmers tackle some of their toughest problems – like insect damage and drought – and gain real benefits, such as higher yields and a softer environmental footprint. We believe that it is vitally important for our community, lawmakers, government officials, and business leaders to recognize that biotechnology is a tool embraced by farmers, big and small, all over the country.
In the spring of 2013, five farmers from across the United States, including Maryland, Oregon, Illinois and Iowa, visited Hawaii as part of the inaugural "Views From the Farm" essay contest to share their perspectives on modern day farming and how the use of biotechnology has benefited their farms and their families. The visit was sponsored by our local partners and fellow farmers, the Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation and the Hawaii Crop Improvement Association (HCIA).
Please enjoy Part 1 of 5 in this series. We will be posting a new video each week on Monsanto Hawaii.
Part 1: Just Like Us: "These farmers are no different than we are as Hawaiians. They are stewards of the land, and that's really important." Kapolei resident Keith Timson talks about farmers and the technologies empowering them to care for the land.
